Justin Bieber’s dad pals around with UFC fighters
Justin Bieber, the international pop star, Twitter sensation and tween that everyone wants to hang with, is not known for being an MMA fan. His father, on the other hand?
A huge MMA fan who likes to get close to fighters and take the ubiquitous fist pose picture. Check him out at the pre-parties for UFC 129. Here he is with UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez.
Not as lean-y with Phil Davis but he does manage the double thumbs-up.
And another double thumbs-up with Jon Fitch, whose face seems to be saying, "WHO IS THIS GUY, GET ME OUT OF HERE."
Check out more pictures from UFC 129 at Combat Lifestyle.

Diaz vs. Lacy set: Camp Lacy says ‘Left Hook’ isn’t losing to a 1-0 fighter
If contracts mean anything it appears we're closer to Nick Diaz stepping away from MMA to try his hand at boxing. Press releases were sent out today saying the Strikeforce 170-pound champion has signed a deal to fight former 168-pound boxing champion Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy in October.
Lacy's publicist Bernie Bahrmasel said his fighter has signed the deal. ESPN.com's Josh Gross spoke with Diaz's mentor Cesar Gracie, who said the MMA fighter also put pen to paper.
Diaz didn't actually sign a contract to fight Lacy. He's signed a bout agreement with Don Chargin, the promoter, with the understanding that it's going to be Lacy.
It's a surprising matchup on both sides. Lacy, a pro boxer with 30 fights under his belt, has a lot to lose. Diaz, who hasn't lost an MMA bout since 2007, has only fought professionally on the boxing side one time.
"It's a challenge when somebody calls him out," Bahrmasel told Yahoo! Sports. "It's a personal thing when somebody says 'you're this, you're that. I can come and kick your butt.' And Jeff's like, 'I'm Jeff Lacy pal. I've been a successful boxer for a very long time. You want to step in with me under boxing rules and prove yourself, it's absolutely personal.'
Two weeks ago, Lacy (25-4-1) spoke about Diaz calling him out.
"Honestly, I was a little stunned. Nick has accomplished a great deal in mixed martial arts and is certainly one of the best in the sport. But getting in the ring with me for a boxing match is a path he needs to be very wary of taking. I'm willing to put it all on the line anytime, anywhere!" said Lacy.
"For the right price, I'm more than interested in heading to his turf and put my fist in his mouth and silencing him."
That kind of trash talk surprised his publicist.
"For Jeff to use that kind of language, it's not typically the way he talks," Bahrmasel said. "He's always been very respectful. But you throw a sword in his direction then you're going to get Jeff Lacy."
The Lacy Camp has no worries about losing to Diaz (1-0).
"He's never lost to a guy who's 1-0 in boxing. How's that for a line? I'll leave it at that," said Bahrmasel.
Is Diaz taking a negotiating position to ensure an MMA fight against Georges St. Pierre before the end of 2011 or will he really go through with this? That's what it sounded like when Gracie spoke with MMAFighting. Seems like a risky proposition for Diaz. If he gets destroyed by Lacy, we're not so sure he can just walk back to MMA and expect anyone to promote a mega-fight against GSP in the near future.

UFC 129 postfight: Seagal’s the secret weapon, bonuses and someone’s grill got jacked
- UFC 129 delivered a UFC-record gate of $12.075 million. The attendance was 55,724.
- Dana White said there were ticket buyers from all 50 states in the U.S. in attendance, and every continent but Antarctica. He joked that he was angry that the UFC didn't have fans in that continent.
-The bonus winners got a UFC-record $129,000 each. Fight of the Night went to Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick. Lyoto Machida got Knockout of the Night. Pablo Garza was awarded Submission of the Night.
- Georges St. Pierre, Randy Couture and Hominick did not attend the postfight presser. They all went for treatment at a local hospital.
- White said Couture had a tooth loosened on the front kick by Machida. The tooth actually fell out during his postfight discussion with UFC analyst Joe Rogan.
- Steven Seagal told The Telegraph's Gareth A. Davies that "he taught Lyoto Machida the kick that KO'd and retired Randy"
- Machida repeatedly gave credit to Seagal for helping him perfect the kick.
"The technique itself, [Machida and Anderson Silva] have both known for a long time, but definitely thinks Steve Seagal being involved and influencing us and helping us perfect the kick, definitely made a difference," Machida said through his translator Ed Soares.
- White said the promotion will stick with the 9 p.m. ET start on future pay-per-views. The UFC made change after polling was done with east coast fans who said the shows were ending too late.
- Future stadium shows have to be chosen carefully. White said it has to be the right fighters and again mentioned Dallas Cowboys Stadium as a possibility.
- When answering a question about what he thought happened to GSP's eye, Jake Shields had the line of night.
"Uh, I punched him in his eye," deadpanned Shields.
- Aldo laughed when asked if Hominick had hit him harder than any previous opponent. Before the fight, Hominick said he would.
"That's just part of the fight game. I talk with Anderson [Silva] a lot and like he says, 'even a parrot can talk.'"
- White confirmed that Aldo's next opponent was probably Chad Mendes and it could go down at UFC 133 in Philly. UFC in Rio is less likely.
- On the subject of the "dream fight" between GSP and Silva, White reiterated that he's never actually spoken to either fighter about that match. He also said he thinks there's always someone new on the horizon who could face St-Pierre at 170.
- Could it be Nick Diaz or does he have to wait for his contract to end with Showtime?
"I imagine I could do whatever I wanted to if I really wanted to," White said. "I don't know. We're going to have to see how this whole thing works out."
- Shields wants to see that fight.
"He's one of my best friends. I think he's got a good shot," Shields said. "I think his style really matches up good. I think his pressure boxing could hopefully do what I couldn't and cut him off."
- Vladimir Matyushenko finally got the knockout he's long coveted. The Belarussian joked that maybe he "overdid it" by scoring the KO against Jason Brilz in just 20 seconds .

Luckiest man in Canada lives out dream by putting belt on GSP
Dana White was clearly blown away by the passion of Canadian MMA fans in Toronto for UFC 129, so when one of them had a crazy request, the UFC president granted the UFC diehard his wish.
Yahoo! Sports' Eh Game was on the scene as Trevor Fitzgerald rolled the dice during White's Friday Q & A:
"After Georges St-Pierre beats down Jake Shields," Fitzgerald started, to immediate cheers. "Can I have the honour of the putting the championship belt around his waist?"
The question seemed to daze White for a moment.
"That's a tough request," the president said. "But [expletive] it, I'll do it."
The place erupted. Disbelieving fans could be heard shouting, "Are you kidding me?" And moments later, Fitzgerald was near the stage sharing his cell number with White's bodyguard so that they can set this whole thing up.
If you paid close attention seconds after Bruce Buffer belted out the results and wondered who the Kevin Smith look-a-like was in the Octagon, now you have your answer - just some fan who asked.
Fitzgerald may be the luckiest man in Canada. He was only at the event because he won a contest!
A father of two from Fort Frances, Ont., Fitzgerald asked his wife if he could go to UFC 129. The answer was no. Corrina, his wife reminded him that his five-year-old daughter Emily had a dance recital today.
Fitzgerald had one card left up his sleeve. He'd entered a UFC 129 trip giveaway at a local Boston Pizza. Guess what happened? Fitzgerald has his name pulled, won two tickets, a hotel room and airfare, and the wifey had to relent.

Despite leaving CBS, Johnson still on the mic for MMA bouts
When news broke that Gus Johnson was leaving CBS and his familiar post during March Madness and NFL games, I assumed that meant no more calling fights on Showtime (or CBS, if they ever decide to air fights again). CBS and Showtime are owned by the same parent company, and Johnson has done bouts on both networks for Strikeforce. I assumed wrong.
According to a report by MMA Fighting, Johnson's contract for calling NCAA basketball and NFL games with CBS ended. However, his deal with Showtime to call fights, both boxing and MMA, was a separate deal.
Michael David Smith points out that it's good to have a proponent of MMA like Johnson in the mainstream:
While HBO's lead boxing voice, Jim Lampley, rarely discusses MMA except to compare it unfavorably to boxing, Johnson spoke admiringly about MMA during Saturday night's Manny Pacquiao-Shane Mosley fight, at one point comparing and contrasting the striking styles of the two sports and noting that a punch Pacquiao threw was similar to an MMA Superman punch.
But it was Johnson who uttered a phrase that was incredibly damaging to the sport. During the melee after Strikeforce's event in Nashville last April, Johnson said, "These things happen in MMA," when nothing can be further from the truth.
After fights, cages are normally areas of respect and appreciation. Melees like that are extremely rare. Baseball and basketball have more dirty moves and fights than MMA, but Johnson didn't point that out. He made it sound like fighters can't stop fighting when the bell rings, but had no evidence to back up that claim.
That was during a CBS broadcast, when people with no prior exposure to MMA had a chance to see the sport for free. Nick Diaz and Jason "Mayhem" Miller deserve the brunt of the blame for the melee, but they both served suspensions and paid fines. Miller wasn't allowed back on Showtime, and sat out for more than a year before being signed by the UFC. But Johnson continues to call fights, despite his poor reaction to an odd event.
Do you like Johnson's fight commentary, or would you rather see him stick to basketball and football?
